A mother, retired from a distinguished teaching career in New York City, commissioned Mike to
paint this portrait of her for her children. This is an example of a 16 x 20" head and shoulders oil
portrait on canvas with detailed jewelry and a neutral background. Mike painted this portrait by
first taking photographs of the subject at his Central Florida studio and then borrowing her
jewelry and setting it up on a mannequin in order to paint it from "life".
