A LETTER FROM A GEORGE SCHOOL
"I knew Mike McVaugh as a student at
George School, a co-ed Quaker boarding
school, where I taught him ceramics, and
drawing and painting. All students are
required to take a course in the arts each
year; but Mike had the interest and drive to
go beyond the requirements. He constantly
drew in his dormitory and around campus
concentrating on portraiture. This was also
the focus of his senior project. The project is
a two weeks focus on work done outside of
school which the senior undertaking it is
responsible for planning and justifying before
a review committee. Mike was one of the
few judged mature and motivated enough to
undertake a completely independent creative
project. Most students work under a
supervisor in some structured area such as a
hospital or law office. Mike amply repaid our
confidence and earned an "A" for the
project. I recommend Mike for his ability,
and his success in producing quality work."
